What began as one woman's belief that every child deserves extraordinary care has grown into a four-campus legacy serving thousands of families across Charlotte and Cabarrus County.
In October 1995, Roslyn E. Dixon opened the doors to a small childcare center on West Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina. Today, Dixon Academy operates four five-star licensed campuses across Charlotte and Cabarrus County, serving children from six weeks through twelve years of age. Level III Early Childhood Administrator • UNC Charlotte Class of 1992
Roslyn E. Dixon grew up in a family where education was not just valued — it was everything. Surrounded by educators who believed in the transformative power of learning, she knew from a young age that her life's work would be dedicated to children. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from UNC Charlotte in 1992, she set out to build something that had never existed in her community: a childcare center that families could truly trust.
In October 1995, she opened the doors to the first Dixon Academy. It was more than a business — it was a promise. A promise that every child who entered would be seen, nurtured, and given the tools to shine. Over the next three decades, that promise has never wavered. From one location in Charlotte to four five-star campuses across two counties, Roslyn has built a legacy that has shaped the lives of thousands of children and their families.
Today, she remains the driving force behind Dixon Academy's mission, leading with the same warmth, determination, and vision that started it all. Her work extends far beyond the classroom — she serves on multiple boards, mentors aspiring educators, and remains deeply rooted in the communities she has spent her life building up.
"I didn't just want to open a daycare. I wanted to build a place where children feel like they matter — because they do."Roslyn E. Dixon
At Dixon Academy, education is not just about preparing children for school. It is about preparing them for life — with confidence, curiosity, and character.
We nurture the complete child — mind, body, heart, and spirit. From cognitive growth and physical development to emotional intelligence and social skills, every dimension of your child's potential receives intentional care and attention.
Children learn best when they are happy, engaged, and genuinely curious. Our classrooms are designed to spark wonder through hands-on exploration, creative play, art, music, and STEAM activities that make learning feel like magic.
Your family is the most important part of your child's world. We honor that by building deep, trusting relationships with parents and guardians. When home and school work together, children thrive in ways neither can achieve alone.
Dixon Academy was born in this community, and we grow because of it. We are deeply invested in the neighborhoods we serve — supporting families, partnering with local organizations, and helping build a stronger, more connected region for all children.
