Built Around How Babies Actually Learn

Research shows the first year of life is the most critical period of brain development. Our infant classrooms are designed for that reality.

"In our infant room, every hold, every song, every gentle response is building the foundation for everything that comes next."
— Infant Lead Teacher, Dixon Academy Mallard Creek

Responsive Care You Can Trust

Our infant educators are trained in responsive caregiving — they follow your baby's cues, maintain consistent routines, and communicate openly with you every single day. We see ourselves as partners in your child's earliest development.

Each infant has a primary caregiver who gets to know your baby's personality, preferences, and milestones. This relationship-based model is the gold standard in infant care — and it's what we practice every day at Dixon Academy.

What Makes Our Infant Program Different

  • Individualized schedules — feeding, nap, and play times follow your baby's natural rhythms, never a one-size-fits-all bell schedule.
  • Tummy time and sensory stations — designed to build core strength, visual tracking, and tactile exploration safely.
  • Low-stimulation sleep spaces — dedicated, safe sleep areas following Safe Sleep guidelines with firm, flat surfaces and no soft objects.
  • Daily parent app updates — photos, feeding logs, diaper changes, and nap times sent in real time throughout the day.
  • Developmental milestone tracking — our teachers monitor growth across motor, language, social, and cognitive domains, sharing observations with families monthly.

Learning Happens in Every Moment

Infant learning isn't structured lesson plans — it's every song, every rattle, every loving interaction woven into a purposeful day.

💕

Secure Attachment First

Everything in our infant program flows from the science of attachment. Consistent, responsive caregiving in the first year shapes the brain's stress response, builds emotional regulation, and creates the secure base from which all exploration launches.

🎵

Language Immersion

Talk, sing, and narrate — all day, every day. Our teachers flood the environment with rich language, naming objects, describing actions, and reading board books to build early literacy foundations.

👟

Motor Development

Structured tummy time, supported sitting, and age-appropriate movement activities help babies build the core strength and coordination they need to reach, roll, crawl, and eventually walk.

🧸

Sensory Exploration

Safe, stimulating sensory bins, textured toys, and visual mobiles engage developing senses and support neural pathway formation during this critical window.

🍃

Social-Emotional Roots

Even the youngest infants are learning to read faces, respond to voices, and feel the comfort of a caring adult — laying the groundwork for empathy and relationships.

Our Environment

Spaces Designed for Little Bodies and Big Development

Our infant rooms are purpose-built for babies — low furniture, soft lighting, clean carpeted play areas, and dedicated sleep rooms separate from active play. Every square foot is planned with safety, stimulation, and comfort in mind.

Warm, home-like touches like rocking chairs, soft color palettes, and nature-inspired decor make the transition from home feel gentle. You'll feel it the moment you walk in — and so will your baby.
